On Saturday, June 10, 2017, at approximately 9:15 AM, Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Everglade Avenue on a report of a stabbing. Arriving Officers discovered an adult male victim suffering from at least one stab wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. On Sunday, June 18, 2017, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased.

Despite extensive investigative efforts, no suspects were identified at the time of the incident. In September of 2022 the case was revisited by current Homicide Detectives. New evidence was discovered that led to the identification of suspect Dupee as the person responsible for this murder. With this new evidence, Detectives were able to secure an arrest warrant for the suspect. Dupee was known to be transient and his whereabouts were unknown.

On December 10, 2022, Dupee was contacted during a call for service in the city of Selma, California. Responding Officers discovered the homicide arrest warrant and took the suspect into custody. He was subsequently transported back to San José and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for homicide.
