Public Notification of Arrest

On January 9, 2023, Officers responded to a residence in San José to investigate a possible sexual assault of a minor. The reporting party, who is the victim’s mother, told Officers that she located inappropriate messages on her daughter’s phone from her former teacher. Officers determined that a sexual assault of a minor had occurred involving suspect Te Bin Jung and the victim. Jung is a current English teacher at Yerba Buena High School. The assault occurred when the victim attended Silver Creek High School, at the time Jung was a teacher at the school.

On January 10, 2023, the Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)/Child Exploitation Detail (CED) Detectives assisted with this investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for suspect Jung. The suspect was located and arrested at his residence in San José. He was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for one count of sexual assault of a minor. The suspect has been released and is no longer in custody via the Supervised Own Recognizance Release Program (S.O.R.P.). 

Detectives believe there could be additional victims due to the suspect’s position as a person of trust at the school.
