SJPD Arrests Suspect for Multiple Sexual Assaults of Minors

On March 21, 2023, San José Police received a report from a juvenile survivor stating that they were sexually assaulted by the suspect over the course of several years. A thorough investigation revealed there were additional survivors ranging in ages from 6 to 13 years old.

On March 22, 2023, the San José Police Department’s Sexual Assault Investigations Unit (SAIU) arrested Gilberto Nevarez for multiple counts of sexual assault of numerous minors. The suspect was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.

He was previously employed as a Community Activity Worker for the City of San José. SJPD is seeking information regarding any other potential survivors.
