Between February 24th and March 29th of 2023, San José Police Department Robbery Unit Detectives investigated a string of strong-armed robberies in which the suspects appeared to be targeting the AAPI community. Detectives identified the suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest, in addition to search warrants for their residences. The suspects were responsible for a number of other similar robberies throughout the bay area.
On March 30th, SJPD's Covert Response Unit (CRU) located and arrested the suspects in the city of Oakland. Through subsequent searches, SJPD Robbery Unit Detectives recovered various pieces of stolen property, approximately $10,000 in cash, illegal firearms, and equipment used to manufacture privately manufactured firearms (PMF's or ghost guns). The suspects were booked at Santa Clara County Main Jail on multiple felony counts of robbery.
