On April 20, 2023, at approximately 12:15 PM, patrol Officers responded to the area of N. Capitol Avenue and Hostetter Road to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2022 Chevrolet sedan, driven by an adult male, was turning westbound onto Hostetter Road from N. Capitol Avenue when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing N. Capitol Avenue in a marked crosswalk. The adult male driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. 

The adult male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and stabilized. On April 23, 2023, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

This is the 11th fatal collision, and the 12th traffic death of 2023. This is also the 9th pedestrian death of the year.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
