On May 1, 2023, at approximately 4:32 AM, patrol Officers responded to the area of Tully Road and Lanai Avenue to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A blue 2007 Honda coupe, driven by an adult male, was travelling westbound on Tully Road through the intersection of Lanai Avenue when it struck an adult female pedestrian who was crossing northbound on Lanai Avenue outside of any marked crosswalk. The adult male driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
The adult female pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.
This is the 12th fatal collision, and the 13th traffic death of 2023. This is also the 10th pedestrian death of the year.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
