On June 7, 2023, at approximately 12:56 AM, patrol Officers responded to the 2400 block of Rinconada Avenue to investigate a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2019 Subaru sedan, driven by a juvenile female, was travelling northbound through an apartment complex parking lot entrance when it struck a juvenile male pedestrian at low speeds.

The juvenile male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. 

This is the 19th fatal collision, and the 20th traffic death of 2023. This is also the 12th pedestrian death of the year.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
