On July 7, 2023, at approximately 2:26 PM, patrol Officers responded to the area of S. White Road and Buckner Drive to investigate a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A possible silver Dodge Ram pickup, occupied by an unknown driver, was travelling southbound on S. White Road when it struck an adult female pedestrian walking outside of any marked crosswalk. The driver fled the scene in the suspect vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This is the 23rd fatal collision, and the 24th traffic death of 2023. This is also the 15th pedestrian death of the year.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
