On July 18, 2023, at approximately 11:40 PM, patrol Officers responded to the intersection of King Road and Havana Drive to investigate a fatal collision involving a vehicle and three pedestrians. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

An 2004 Chevy Tahoe, occupied by an adult male driver, was travelling southbound on King Road approaching a green light at Havana Drive when it struck an adult female pedestrian and two juvenile females who were crossing King Road in a westbound direction outside of any marked crosswalk. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The adult female and one juvenile pedestrian were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries and were stabilized. One juvenile infant was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This is the 26th fatal collision, and the 27th traffic death of 2023.  This is also the 17th pedestrian death of the year.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
