On August 11, 2023, at approximately 5:02 PM, patrol Officers responded to the intersection of Berryessa Road and Sabal Drive to investigate a fatal collision involving two vehicles. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2016 Chrysler 200, occupied by an adult male driver, was travelling eastbound on Berryessa Road and turning northbound onto Sabal Drive when it was struck by a 2012 Honda Accord, occupied by an adult male driver, who was traveling westbound on Berryessa Road.
Both drivers were transported to local hospitals. The adult male driver of the Chrysler sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The driver of the Honda suffered non life-threatening injuries and cooperated with the investigation.
This is the 29th fatal collision, and the 30th traffic death of 2023.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
