On August 13, 2023, at approximately 5:14 AM, patrol Officers responded to the intersection of Story Road and Moraes Court to investigate a fatal collision involving a single vehicle that struck a parked vehicle. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2013 Cadillac sedan, occupied by a lone adult male driver, was travelling eastbound on Story Road at a high rate of speed when it struck the center island, then struck an unoccupied pick-up truck parked on the curb.
The adult male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding medics. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision at this time.
This is the 30th fatal collision, and the 31st traffic death of 2023.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
