On August 24, 2023, at approximately 9:28 PM, patrol Officers responded to the intersection of Landess Avenue and Morrill Avenue to investigate a fatal collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2007 Lexus sedan, occupied by a lone adult male driver, was travelling eastbound on Landess Avenue at the intersection of Morrill Avenue through a green traffic light, when it struck an adult male pedestrian crossing southbound on Landess Avenue in a marked crosswalk.
The adult male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding medics. The driver of the Lexus remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
This is the 31st fatal collision, and the 32nd traffic death of 2023. This is also the 18th pedestrian death of the year.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
