On July 8, 2023, at approximately 8:50 PM, Officers responded to the area of E. William Street and S. 10th Street for a call of a person shot. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male and a juvenile male suffering from at least one gunshot wound each. The adult male victim was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The juvenile victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
SJPD Homicide Unit Detectives began an comprehensive investigation that positively identified two suspects. Detectives obtained warrants for their arrest, in addition to search warrants for the suspect's residences. On August 25, 2023, SJPD's Covert Response Unit (CRU) located and arrested both suspects in Morgan Hill, CA. The suspects were booked for homicide and attempted homicide charges at Santa Clara County Main Jail and Juvenile Hall, respectively.
This was the City's 21st homicide of 2023.
