On September 16, 2023, at approximately 7:48 PM, patrol Officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near the intersection of S. White Road and Quimby Road. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2015 BMW sedan, occupied by a lone adult female driver, was traveling northbound on S. White Road just north of Quimby Road when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing S. White Road outside of a marked crosswalk.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased. The driver of the BMW remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. 

This is the 35th fatal collision, and the 36th traffic death of 2023. This was also the 20th pedestrian death of 2023.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
