On September 25, 2023, at approximately 6:21 AM, patrol Officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of Willow Street and Meridian Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2016 Honda sedan, occupied by a lone adult female driver, was traveling southbound on Meridian Avenue with a solid green light when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing westbound on Meridian Avenue in a marked crosswalk against a solid red hand.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Honda remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. 

This is the 37th fatal collision, and the 38th traffic death of 2023. This was also the 22nd pedestrian death of 2023.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
