On September 8, 2023, at approximately 8:23 AM, patrol Officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles in the intersection of Quimby Road and S. White Road. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2016 BMW sedan, occupied by an adult female driver, was travelling eastbound on Quimby Road when the driver made an unsafe lane change into the left turn lane of northbound S. White Road. The BMW collided with a 2003 Acura TL sedan, occupied by an adult male driver, who was already in the left turn lane. This collision caused the Acura TL sedan to hit the center median of S. White Road, continue northeast on the road and ultimately collide with a curbside tree.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The adult male driver of the Acura was transported to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

On September 23, 2023, the adult male driver succumbed to his injuries received during the collision and was pronounced deceased.

This is the 38th fatal collision, and the 39th traffic death of 2023.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
