SJPD Arrests Suspect for Possession of Multiple Firearms

On August 15, 2023,  at approximately 5:12 PM hours, SJPD Officers responded to a report of a firearm brandishing that occurred in the area of Senter Road and Umbarger Road. During a road-rage incident, the victim reported that the driver of the other vehicle pulled alongside his vehicle and brandished a black semi-automatic handgun towards him.

Through the course of the investigation, the SJPD Assaults Unit identified the suspect as Manuel Leon Valdez. The suspect is prohibited from possessing firearms. Detectives obtained a warrant for the suspect's arrest as well as a search warrant for the suspect's residence.

On September 21, 2023, the SJPD Covert Response Unit (CRU) arrested the suspect at his residence in San Jose. The Assaults Unit with the assistance of the Gun & Hazardous Offender Suppression Team (GHOST),  conducted a search of his residence and seized the following items: multiple unserialized privately made firearms (PMF’s) including assault rifles and pistols, ammunition, a 3D printer, a firearm silencer, magazines, firearm milling tools, body armor and miscellaneous firearms parts. The suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for the warrant and for multiple on-view felony gun charges.
