SJPD Arrest Suspect for Homicide #19

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 

On July 2, 2023, at approximately 4:06 AM, Officers responded to the 400 block of Queens Lane for a call of a person shot. Officers located an adult male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The San José Police Department's Homicide Unit responded to the scene and began a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the incident. Throughout the course of the investigation, Homicide Detectives identified the suspect as Carlos Fuentes and obtained a warrant for his arrest as well as a search warrant for a local residence in Santa Clara.

On October 3, 2023, Officers from the Covert Response Unit arrested the suspect in San José and served the search warrant at his residence in Santa Clara. A loaded firearm and narcotics for sale were located in the residence. The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for Homicide.  

This was the City's 19th homicide of 2023.
