On November 6, 2023, at approximately 9:38 PM, patrol Officers responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Chesbro Avenue and Blossom Hill Road. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2006 gray Chevy Trailblazer SUV, occupied by a lone adult male driver, was travelling westbound on Blossom Hill Road when it struck an adult female pedestrian in a wheelchair who was crossing northbound on Blossom Hill Road. The pedestrian was in the east crosswalk and crossing against a red light.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where they were subsequently pronounced deceased. The driver of the Chevy Trailblazer remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
This is the 43rd fatal collision, and the 45th traffic death of 2023. This was also the 24th pedestrian death of 2023.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
