Local Kids get to "Shop with a Cop" 

 

WHO: The Shop with a Cop Foundation of Silicon Valley will be hosting its 16th Annual Holiday shopping spree.

WHAT: 300 local children will be treated to a special breakfast and shopping spree with “Shop with a Cop” to select gifts for themselves and family members all the while building positive experiences with officers. 260 children have been pre-selected from five local Title I elementary schools who participated in a 10-week reading challenge. Of the 260 participants 210 made the equivalent of three months reading growth. The shopping spree is a reward for their reading achievements. Additional children have been selected by local police departments based on high profile cases which have impacted young children experiencing a traumatic crisis. Families of fallen Santa Clara County Deputies who passed away suddenly this year are also included in this event.

300 uniformed officers, firefighters and Military personnel (Moffett Field) from roughly 24 different local, state and federal law enforcement agencies will give their time by partnering with children from the local schools for fun-filled day beginning with a breakfast, entertainment, a visit from Santa and a $150.00 shopping spree.

WHEN: Wednesday, December 6, 2023

WHERE: Holiday Inn - 1350 N. First Street. (breakfast) 7:30 A.M. and Target-533 Coleman Ave. San José (College Park Target) starting at 9:30 A.M.

WHY: Shop with a Cop is an annual event established in 2008 and sponsored by local law enforcement, Target, individual donors, grants and local businesses which aims to provide children with a special shopping spree and encourage positive relationships with police. For many children, it will be the only holiday experience they will have.
This year, CEFCU is the presenting sponsor.
