On December 18, 2023, at approximately 6:05 PM, SJPD patrol Officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 6200 block of Santa Teresa Boulevard. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2013 black Honda sedan, occupied by an adult male driver, was travelling northbound out of a shopping center parking lot, when it collided with an adult female pedestrian who was walking eastbound on the sidewalk at the entrance of the shopping center.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she was stabilized. The driver remained at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

On December 24, 2023, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

This is the 47th fatal collision, and the 49th traffic death of 2023. This was also the 27th pedestrian death of 2023. 

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
