On February 3, 2024, at approximately 5:41 PM, patrol Officers responded to a solo vehicle collision in the area of Piedmont Road and Sierra Road. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2006 white BMW sedan, occupied by an adult male driver and adult female passenger, was traveling northbound on Piedmont Road when it left the roadway over the east curbline of Piedmont Road, ultimately striking a light pole and tree. The adult male driver fled from the scene.
The adult female passenger was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased.
This is the 7th fatal collision and 7th traffic death of 2024.
The circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
