ARRESTED

On January 12, 2024 the San José Police Department Gun and Hazardous Offender Suppression Team (GHOST) conducted a proactive investigation following a tip into the manufacturing and sale of privately made firearms (PMF's), commonly known as ghost guns, in the city of San José. During the investigation, Francisco Sanchez Jr. was revealed as the primary suspect, and it was discovered that the suspect was using a 3D printer to manufacture illegal firearms for sale.

With the assistance of the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office Crime Strategies Unit, SJPD GHOST obtained an arrest warrant for suspect Sanchez Jr. and a search warrant for the suspect's residence. On February 15, 2024, the San José Police Department Gang Investigation Unit (GIU) and Mobile Emergency Response Group & Equipment (MERGE) Unit served the warrants and arrested the suspect in the city of San José. During the search of the suspect's residence, Detectives seized two firearms, firearm manufacturing precursor materials, and the 3D printing machine used to create the ghost guns.
