On February 29, 2024, at approximately 1:18 AM, patrol Officers responded to a parking lot located in the 5100 block of Moorpark Avenue for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male victim inside a vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The San José Police Department Homicide Unit responded to the scene and began a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Detectives learned that the victim may have known the suspects and identified Dynzel Brown as the primary suspect.
At approximately 11:50 PM, the SJPD Special Operations M.E.R.G.E. Unit located and apprehended Suspect Brown in the city of Sunnyvale. The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for homicide.
During the course of the investigation, Detectives later identified the secondary suspect as Jerald Williams. On March 8, 2023, the SJPD Special Operations M.E.R.G.E. Unit located and apprehended Suspect Williams at a residence in San José. The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for homicide related charges.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
This was the City's 9th homicide of 2024.
