On October 18, 2023, at approximately 11:09 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a business located in the 2300 block of Senter Road for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male victim who sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of being attacked by multiple suspects.
Detectives from the San José Police Department Gang Investigations Unit (GIU) determined the assault to be gang-motivated and began a thorough investigation. Detectives identified the following six suspects responsible for the incident: Francis Ocampo, Anthony Nguyen, Branden Un, Bao Nguyen, Tri Nguyen, and Christian Sung.
Detectives obtained arrest warrants for the suspects and search warrants for their respective residences, which were located in San José, Garden Grove, Westminster, and Santa Ana.
On March 20, 2024, SJPD GIU Detectives and several assisting agencies arrested the six suspects and served search warrants at their respective residences in northern and southern California.
During the execution of the search warrants, SJPD Detectives located and seized the following items:
- One (1) assault rifle
- Fifteen (15) handguns (1 stolen, 3 privately made, 11 unregistered)
- One (1) 3D printer
- Firearm parts
- Ghost gun precursor parts
- Over $80,000 in cash
- 13.5 kilos of MDMA
- 6 kilos of methamphetamine
- 2 kilos of cocaine
- 2 kilos of heroin

Suspect Sung was arrested by SJPD in the city of San José and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail. Suspects Ocampo and Anthony Nguyen were arrested by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in the city of Garden Grove, suspect Un was arrested by Westminster Police Department in the city of Westminster, suspect Bao Nguyen was arrested by Garden Grove Police Department in the city of Garden Grove, all of whom were booked into Orange County Jail. Suspect Tri Nguyen was arrested by HSI on a separate investigation and is currently in custody. All suspects were booked for crime of assault with a deadly weapon.
