On March 31, 2024, at approximately 7:40 PM, Patrol Officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Highway 280. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A black 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage, driven by a lone adult male, was traveling northbound on Saratoga Avenue when it struck an adult male pedestrian, who was crossing eastbound on Saratoga Avenue in the north crosswalk. Preliminary information suggests the pedestrian was crossing against a solid red hand.
The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the collision.
This is the 11th fatal collision and 11th traffic death of 2024. This is the 7th pedestrian death of 2024.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
