On February 23, 2024, at approximately 7:30 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles in the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Moorpark Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2008 gray Infinity sedan, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling northbound on Saratoga Avenue when it rear ended a 2003 gold Lexus SUV that was stopped in traffic at the intersection of Saratoga Avenue and Moorpark Avenue. The SUV was occupied by an adult female driver and an adult female passenger.
The driver of the Infinity sedan was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and later stabilized. The driver and passenger of the gold Lexus remained on scene and were cooperative during the investigation.
On April 22, 2024, detectives were notified the driver of the Infinity sedan had been paralyzed due to the vehicle collision and was pronounced deceased. On April 25, 2024, the coroner advised SJPD that the medical examiner determined the injuries incurred during the accident contributed to the driver's death.
This is the 14th fatal collision and 14th traffic death of 2024.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
