On October 25, 2023, at approximately 9:13 PM, Officers responded to the 1600 Block of Tully Road for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

The San José Police Department Homicide Unit responded to the scene and began a comprehensive investigation into the shooting. During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified the suspects as Saran Moeun, Chhorn Than, and Vu Hung Le. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for the three suspects and search warrants for their respective residences.

On March 26, 2024, members of the SJPD Covert Response Unit (CRU) arrested suspect Moeun in the city of Oakland and arrested suspect Than in the city of Livermore. Members of the Special Operations MERGE Unit along with CRU served search warrants at the suspects' residences in Oakland and Hayward. During the search, Detectives located multiple firearms and ammunition. Both suspects were transported back to San José and subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for murder.

On May 3, 2024, members of CRU located and arrested suspect Le in the city of San José and booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.

This was the City's 29th homicide of 2023.
