On April 4, 2024, at approximately 1:34 AM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the 2800 block of Gay Avenue for a report of a carjacking. Four unidentified suspects approached the victim’s vehicle while it was parked in the driveway and broke the driver side front window to gain entry. The victims woke up when the car alarm went off. As the victims approached the window facing the driveway, one suspect threatened to shoot the victims.

SJPD Robbery Unit Detectives began a thorough investigation and identified a juvenile male suspect. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect and a search warrant for his residence. On May 15, 2024, the SJPD Covert Response Unit (CRU) arrested the suspect in the city of San José and booked him into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for armed carjacking. With the assistance of the SJPD Racer Enforcement Detail (RED) Team, Robbery Unit Detectives executed the search warrant at the suspect's residence and seized a firearm.
