On May 27, 2024, at approximately 1:52 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the intersection of Montague Expressway and O'Toole Avenue for a report of a two-vehicle traffic collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2001 gray Ford sedan, occupied by a lone adult male driver, was travelling westbound on Montague Expressway when it veered left and struck the rear end of a 2024 Freightliner box truck. The box truck was occupied by a lone adult male driver, and was stopped before the red turn signal in the left turn lane of westbound Montague Expressway to go southbound on O'Toole Avenue.
The driver of the Ford sedan was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the box truck remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
This is the 19th fatal collision and 19th traffic death of 2024.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
