On February 8, 2024, at approximately 9:40 AM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the area of South White Road and Tully Road for a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2008 gray Peterbuilt garbage truck, occupied by a lone adult male driver, was travelling northbound on South White Road making a right hand turn on eastbound Tully Road, when it struck an adult female pedestrian who was crossing South White Road outside of any marked crosswalks.

The driver of the garbage truck remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. On 5/30/2024, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries received during the accident and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

This is the 20th fatal collision and 20th traffic death of 2024. This is also the 8th pedestrian death of 2024.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
