On June 2, 2024, at approximately 11:19 AM, Patrol Officers responded to a report of a person down in the area of 17th Street and East Santa Clara Street. The reporting party called police to report that an adult male victim was bleeding and not breathing. The caller believed the victim may have been involved in a disturbance. When Officers arrived, they located the adult male victim suffering from at least one stab wound. Despite life saving efforts by Officers and medics, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The unknown suspect fled prior to police arrival.
The San José Police Department Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the incident.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the event are under investigation.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
This is the City's 17th homicide of 2024.
