On June 25, 2024, at approximately 11:11 AM, San José Police Department Officers responded to a fire department aid request for assistance in the area of Berryessa Road and Mercado Way. The San José Fire Department responded to approximately nine incendiary fires between the Berryessa BART Station and multiple fires at Watson Park in San José.
SJPD Officers responded to assist and located a suspect matching the description provided. Officers observed the suspect start a new fire in the area of Watson Park and took him into custody shortly after. The fires were contained and the suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for arson related charges.
