On March 29, 2024 at approximately 7:19 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 1100 block of McLaughlin Avenue. The adult male victim and his wife were in a vehicle when they were shot at by an unknown suspect. The victim's vehicle was struck by gunfire at least once, resulting in the adult male driver being shot at least once. The victim self-transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
SJPD Gang Investigations Unit (GIU) Detectives began an extensive and thorough investigation and determined the incident to be gang-motivated. Detectives identified Salvador Rodriguez as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest and search warrants for his associated residences.
On June 20, 2024, with the assistance of the SJPD Covert Response Unit (CRU), GIU Detectives located and arrested suspect Rodriguez in the city of San José and booked him into Santa Clara County Jail for gang-motivated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
