On May 26, 2024, at approximately 2:45 PM, SJPD Patrol Officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment in the 1000 block of Blossom River Way. When Officers arrived, they located an adult male victim who was not conscious nor breathing and suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. 

SJPD Homicide Detectives began a thorough and comprehensive investigation and identified three primary suspects: Nuuvali Lafo, Isaac Noa, and Jason Vaavaai.

On July 16, 2024, Officers from the SJPD Covert Response Unit arrested suspects Vaavaai and Noa in the city of Los Banos. Officers from the SJPD MERGE Unit arrested suspect Lafo in the city of San José. All three suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for murder.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the event are under investigation.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.

This was the City's 15th homicide of 2024.
