On July 28, 2024, at approximately 6:18 AM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the area of S. 11th Street and E. William Street for a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2019 white Toyota Highlander, occupied by an adult male driver, was exiting an apartment complex driveway at a slow rate of speed heading north bound onto S. 11th Street. An adult male pedestrian was lying in the roadway when the Toyota SUV drove over him. 

The adult male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was later pronounced deceased.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. 

This is the 27th fatal collision and 27th traffic death of 2024.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
