On August 25th, 2024, at approximately 4:19 AM, Patrol Officers responded to a report of a person down in the 400 block of N. 33rd Street. Upon arrival, Officers discovered an adult female victim in the roadway who was unresponsive and bleeding. Medical personnel immediately began life saving measures. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. During the course of the investigation, it was believed the female may have been run over by a vehicle. 

The San José Police Department Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the incident.

A few hours later, a person of interest self surrendered at the police department. They will be identified at a later time. 

The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. 

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin. 

This is the City's 22nd homicide of 2024.
