On September 29, 2024, at approximately 3:10 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the area of Santa Teresa Boulevard and Bayliss Avenue for a report of a vehicle collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2000 silver Chevy pickup truck, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling southbound on Santa Teresa Boulevard when it lost control at Bayliss Avenue and veered into the northbound lanes of traffic. The pickup truck was then involved in a broadside collision with a 2021 BMW SUV, occupied by an adult male driver, an adult female passenger, and a male juvenile passenger, that was traveling northbound on Santa Teresa Boulevard south of Bayliss Avenue.

The adult male driver of the pickup truck was pronounced deceased on scene. The three occupants of the BMW were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

This is the 39th fatal collision and 39th traffic death of 2024.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
