On October 16, 2024, at approximately 8:13 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the area of King Road and Salamoni Court for a report of a hit-and-run vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2012 Dodge Caravan, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling southbound on King Road north of the intersection with Salamoni Court when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing westbound on King Road outside of any marked crosswalk.

The adult male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver fled the scene, but was shortly located by Patrol Officers and taken into custody.  

This is the 43rd fatal collision and 43rd traffic death of 2024. This is also the 16th pedestrian death of 2024.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
