SJPD Arrests Eight Suspects for Multiple Felonies

Between November 2023 and September 2024, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to multiple violent crimes that occurred in the city of San José. These crimes ranged from assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking, robbery, and illegal firearm possession. The preliminary investigations revealed these cases were gang-related or motivated, and not only targeted rival gang members, but also community members in the Loma Verde and Cadillac/Winchester neighborhoods.

SJPD Gang Investigations Unit (GIU) Detectives began a thorough and comprehensive investigation into these incidents. GIU Detectives linked all these crimes to a known violent gang and identified eight primary suspects as Josue Castro, Jonathan Rodriguez, Daniel Romo, Luis Arizmendi-Bravo, Joe Maldonado, Erick Curiel and two juvenile male suspects. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for the suspects and search warrants for their respective residences.

Between October 15 and 17, 2024, GIU Detectives located and arrested the eight suspects in the city of San José. These arrests were made possible with the assistance of the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Salinas Valley State Prison-Gang Investigations, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Streets Task Force (SSTF), Santa Clara County Adult Probation Department, SJPD Special Operations Violent Crimes Enforcement Team (VCET), SJPD Metro Unit, SJPD Street Crimes Unit, SJPD Robbery Unit, SJPD Gun Hazardous Offender Suppression Team (GHOST), and SJPD Patrol Officers, 

During the execution of the residential search warrants, Detectives seized evidence pertaining to the committed crimes, various gang intelligence and indicia, live ammunition, and a fully automatic submachine gun.  

   

The six adult suspects were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail and the two juvenile suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for various violent felonies.
