On March 4, 2013, at approximately 12:23 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the area of Azucar Avenue and Discovery Avenue for a report of a vehicle collision involving a bicyclist. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 1996 green Toyota Corolla, occupied by an adult female driver, was traveling east bound on Azucar Avenue approaching Discovery Avenue. The vehicle struck a bicyclist, ridden by an adult male, who was also traveling east bound on Azucar Avenue.
The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and later stabilized. The bicyclist was later placed into long term care due to the extent of his injuries.
On October 22, 2024, the bicyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
This is the 42nd fatal collision and 42nd traffic death of 2013.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
