On October 7, 2024, at approximately 9:56 PM, Patrol Officers responded to a report of an arson and vandalism that occurred at a business in the 1800 block of Hillsdale Avenue. The suspect entered the business and set a box containing an electric scooter inside on fire. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
San José Police Department's Organized Retail Theft Detail investigators began a thorough investigation and identified Andy Luong as the suspect. During the course of this investigation, investigators discovered suspect Luong was responsible for a prior theft that occurred at the same business.
On October 10, 2024, Patrol Officers located and apprehended suspect Luong. The suspect was later booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for arson.
