San José Police Department Homicide Unit Detectives responded to the scene and began a thorough investigation. The below pictured rifle was located at the scene and booked as evidence. During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified Addam Nieto, Brian Medina, and a juvenile as the primary suspects and determined the suspects were associated to local San Jose gangs.

On November 15, 2024, with the assistance of the Covert Response Unit, Detectives arrested the juvenile suspect in San Jose. During the arrest, the juvenile suspect was found to be in possession of an automatic firearm concealed in his waistband (pictured below). The juvenile was later booked into the Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for murder.
Detectives discovered suspect Medina was in custody at Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for unrelated charges. Homicide Detectives took custody of suspect Medina and booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder.
Detectives also learned Suspect Nieto was in custody for unrelated charges in Stanislaus County. He was served an arrest warrant for murder pending extradition back to Santa Clara County.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.
This is the City's 26th homicide of 2024.
