On September 10, 2021, at approximately 11:31 PM, Officers were dispatched to the area of Winchester Boulevard and Cadillac Drive for multiple reports of a firearm discharge. When Officers arrived on scene, they located an adult female victim on the sidewalk and an adult male victim in the parking lot, who were each suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The female victim was later transported to a local hospital where her injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

The male victim was non-responsive but was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The suspects were unidentified at the time of the incident and fled prior to police arrival. Preliminary information revealed the incident to be gang motivated.

Detectives from the SJPD Homicide Unit responded to the scene and began a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Detectives later identified the primary suspects as Christopher Espinoza and Isaiah Sotelo and obtained warrants for their arrests.

On December 3, 2024, members from the SJPD Covert Response Unit (CRU) located and apprehended suspect Espinoza in the city of Hollister. He was subsequently booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for Murder.

Suspect Sotelo is currently outstanding and is believed to hiding in Mexico. A felony arrest warrant remains active for suspect Sotelo for the crime of Murder.
