On December 30, 2024, at approximately 7:01 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a family disturbance in the 3200 Block of Payne Ave. The reporting party called police to report a known suspect had broken into their residence and was in a physical altercation with the occupants. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male victim and adult female victim suffering from at least one stab wound each. Both were transported to local hospitals where the male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The female victim sustained injuries that were determined to be non-life threatening.
 
The suspect attempted to flee the scene on foot prior to police arrival but was subsequently apprehended nearby by responding officers.
 
SJPD Homicide Unit Detectives responded to the scene and began a thorough investigation into the incident. Detectives learned that the suspect and victims were known to each other. The suspect was later booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for murder and will be identified in the coming days.
 
The motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office after confirming the victim’s identity and notifying next of kin.

This is the City's 28th homicide of 2024.
