On January 6, 2025, at approximately 10:33 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the area of Berryessa Road and Sierra Road for a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2001 silver Toyota SUV, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling eastbound on Berryessa Road in the number two lane through a green traffic light at the intersection with Sierra Road. The vehicle struck an adult male pedestrian, who was crossing southbound on Berryessa Road just outside of the crosswalk.
The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries where he was later pronounced deceased.
This is the 1st fatal collision and 1st traffic death of 2025. This is also the 1st pedestrian death of 2025.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
