On January 12, 2025, at approximately 10:49 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the area of Lincoln Avenue and Lonus Street for a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2014 white Acura SUV, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling northbound on Lincoln Avenue in the number two lane just south of its intersection with Lonus Street. The vehicle struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing Lincoln Avenue from the west to east curb outside of any marked crosswalks.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries where he was later pronounced deceased.
Officers located the driver leaving the scene and conducted a vehicle stop. The driver was taken into custody and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter.
This is the 2nd fatal collision and 2nd traffic death of 2025. This is also the 2nd pedestrian death of 2025.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
