On March 22, 2025, at approximately 10:16 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to the area of Almaden Expressway and Ironwood Drive for a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2009 red Kia sedan, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling southbound on Almaden Expressway when it struck an adult male pedestrian in the roadway. Medical personnel responded to the scene where they ultimately pronounced the pedestrian deceased.   

The driver of the Kia remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs did not appear to be a factor in the collision. 

This is the 7th fatal collision and 7th traffic death of 2025. This is also the 5th pedestrian death of 2025.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office.
