SJPD Arrests Suspect for Hit and Run Collision

On June 9, 2025 at approximately 5:59 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the 1500 block of Fruitdale Avenue for a report of a hit and run collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

An adult male operating a motorcycle was traveling westbound on Fruitdale Avenue when a black sedan traveling southbound on Corlista Drive turning westbound onto Fruitdale Avenue made an illegal u-turn into the motorcycle’s path. The adult male victim operating the motorcycle suffered major injuries from the collision and was transported to a local hospital. The unknown suspect driving the vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival.

During the investigation, SJPD Traffic Investigations Unit Detectives identified the adult male suspect as Misael Lara-Moya. On June 11, 2025, Suspect Lara-Moya was located and arrested in the city of San José. The suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for felony hit and run.
