On February 8, 2025, at approximately 12:15 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a shooting that occurred in a shopping center parking lot in the 1300 block of South Winchester Boulevard. Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was gang-motivated and involved two separate groups. Two suspects brandished firearms and began shooting at two male victims who had just pulled into the parking lot. The victims returned to their vehicle and fled the scene.
This shooting occurred in broad daylight on a weekend when civilians were going about their day, with two getting caught in the gunfire. Fortunately, no one was injured during the shooting. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.
SJPD Gang Investigations Unit Detectives began a comprehensive investigation and identified the two suspects as Jacobo Guzman-Flores and an 18-year-old male who was a juvenile at the time of the incident. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for both suspects and search warrants for their associated residences in the city of San José.
On June 11, 2025, Suspect Guzman was located and arrested in Redwood City. The second suspect was located and arrested in the city of San José. During the execution of the search warrant, SJPD located numerous gang indicia, in addition to a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Suspect Guzman was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail, and the other suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall, both for gang-motivated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and crimes related to firearms possession.
